Alshon Jeffrey NFL Draft | Wide Receiver South Carolina

Name: Alshon Jeffry, NFL Draft prospect
Ideal Position: Number One Receiver
Measurements: 6-4 232 lbs.
School: South Carolina

-While his lack of production this year may not look great let me say this, if AJ goes to a team with a decent quarterback he could be better than any receiver in this year’s draft. Had he put up the numbers he was supposed to, he would be a top 3 pick.

-Since I have talked him up let me say this, buyer beware he is rumored to have had some weight issues this year and doesn’t seem to be motivated to beat the double coverage teams assign to him.

-His height and build is amazing, you couldn’t sketch out a better receiver on paper, and he is deceptively quick for his size.

-He has matched up against the strong pool of SEC defensive backs and has proved that he can beat them 99% of the time when he is motivated to.

-Has the frame and size to block most second-level defenders, but isn’t always a model of consistency in this category.

-Not a spectacular screen catchers as far as YAC go, but he has amazing hands and ball skills so he will generally get you a couple of yards at least.

-Will be an insane mismatch in the redzone due to his ability and catch balls at their highest point. By the way when he makes those catches he doesn’t need two hands because he has had his fair share of spectacular catches.

-He won’t dazzle defenders with his speed, but he does make them respect his amazing ability to catch the ball by any means necessary even if the defender is in perfect coverage. He will be one of the steals of this draft unless he just shines at the combine. Look for him to get drafted around 14 or beyond, however look for him be a surprise pick by any team that has a first or second year QB without the necessary weapons. Possible destinations: St. Louis, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Chicago, and Denver

About Will Lomas

Grew up in a town in Tennessee named Dyersburg, and played ball there. When I realized I was too small to play college ball, I found my passion in breaking down game film, analyzing athletes, and finding the little things that decides whether a player is good, bad, or great.
