Lups 2012 NFL Mock Draft

Lups Presents His FINAL 2012 Mock Draft!

From a Corner of the Living room Somewhere on 4th Ave ………

Version 6.0  – 4/25/12

1. Indianapolis Colts – Andrew Luck QB, Stanford
The pick is already Luck is a Colt and it’s a damned fine choice.

2. Washington Redskins (from St. Louis Rams) – Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor
With the first picked locked in this pick now also becomes locked in.  Griffin is a great fit in Shanny’s system and guarantees I get at least two picks right in my mock this year.

3. Minnesota Vikings - Matt Kalil OT, USC
I don’t know why the Vikings haven’t just announced they’ll be taking Kalil here.  I can only see them moving down if a future one is offered and I can’t see that happening.  This team is going to be picking high again next season so it’s best to start taking the best players availabe at need positions  instead of moving down and acquiring second tier options.  They can find a WR and a CB later in the draft, and the same can’t be said for a LT.  Taking Kalil here actually improves three positions.  LT obviously, LG as Charlie Johnson will kick inside, and QB as Ponder will now get some more time to throw.

4. Cleveland Browns - Trent Richardson RB, Alabama
The Browns missed out on getting RG3 as the face of their franchise but who says that face has to be a QB?  Richardson is the most talented back to enter a draft since Adrian Peterson and can definitely be the featured player on this offense.  McCoy can dump off to him 80 times a year and let Ol’ Trenty make him look good.

5. Tampa Bay Bucs – Morris Claiborne CB, LSU
With Richardson off the board the Bucs don’t even have to deliberate this pick, it’s Claiborne hands down.

6. St. Louis Rams - Justin Blackmon WR, Oklahoma St.
The Rams got three years worth of picks from the Redskins to move down to 6 and get the guy they wanted anyway.  It’s a good time to be a Rams fan.

7. Jacksonville Jaguars – Melvin Ingram DE, South Carolina
There has been some recent rumblings that the Jags are extremely high on Stephon Gilmore and could take him here.  I am tempted to do that but then I remind myself that you can’t trust anything you hear this late in the Draftseason.  This team needs a pass rusher more than anything and Ingram can attack the passer from about 8 different spots.

8. Miami Dolphins - Ryan Tannehill QB, Texas A&M
The way the Phins are working this free agency it seems like they are trying to get the number one pick next year.  No matter how much they talk up Matt Moore, they know in their hearts he isn’t the answer. They’ll hope this former WR from Texas A&M is.

 9. Carolina Panthers - Michael Floyd WR, Notre Dame
The Panthers need a defensive tackle more than anything but should find a good one in round two so they go a luxury route here.  Floyd gives Newton a phsyical young target to throw to for the next decade.

10. Buffalo Bills - Riley Reiff OT, Iowa
The Bills scratched their pass rushing itch by signing Super Mario and Mark Anderson in free agency.  That will allow them to either finally address the offensive tackle position.  Reiff can play left or right tackle and would hold that spot down for a decade.

11. Kansas City Chiefs - Luke Kuechly LB, Boston College
The Chiefs could stand to upgrade next to Derrick Johnson in the middle of their defense.  Kuechly is a superb athlete and one of the better tacklers in the entire universe.
