Luke Kuechly NFL Draft | LB Boston College

Name: Luke Kuechly
Ideal position: ILB
Measurements: 6-2 235
School: Boston College

-Kuechly jumps of the paper with his near 200 tackles, but I hate to say that he is not a first round talent. While the numbers are there, they are also inflated due to how much he is on the field and the low talent level surrounding him.

-Kuechly will get lost in traffic and will struggle to get of blocks at the next level.

-In space he does a good job of settling down and making the tackle, however he doesn’t make a lot of TFLs because he seems unsure whether he will miss or not with diving tackles. Think the opposite of Vontaze Bufict.

-Does a good job reading what the offense is trying to run by reading blocks. Good job getting behind the pulling guard on power/counter plays

-Not a very good blitzer, too high and not enough power at point of contact.

-Solid fundamentals and good technique when tackling, doesn’t miss many. Does make tackles down field and will allow a few yards but seems to follow a bend-but-don’t-break defensive scheme.

-Seems like he could fit in a 4-3 MLB, but I need to see more speed and range before I put him in the 3-4 ILB category.

-As far as I can see Kuechly doesn’t deserve a first round grade but I can see him as a mid second round guy. He won’t wow you but if he goes to defense with a solid core group of players I can see him being productive for at least 5-7 years. Overall if I had to use one word to describe Kuechly it would be solid. Projected pick 40-64. Possible destinations: Tampa, New York Giants, New England, and/or anyone that overrates his stats.
