Cam Johnson NFL Draft | Defensive End Virginia

Name: Cam Johnson
Ideal Position: 4-3 DE
Measurements: 6-3 270
School: Virginia

-Cam is a guy who plays bigger than his number indicates, and doesn’t look like he will beat you with his speed.

-Looks mean when he is getting blocked, gets his hands into the tackle’s pads and drives him back.

-Struggles to consistently disengage and can get discouraged if he gets stood up.

-Could possibly play a 3-4 DE, but I would only advise it in a team that is primarily 4-3 defense but is going against a clear pass play.

-Hard to pancake or knock down because he plays with such great strength and leverage. Should have at least 5 more sacks on his stat sheet but is constantly held.

-Does a good job shooting gaps and demanding extra attention, however Johnson doesn’t have a wide array of moves other than the bulrush and the occasional inside rip.

-Currently playing with an injury, which may answer questions about his stamina and lack of effort on some pursuit plays.

-Cam Johnson is an impressive guy that could rehab and have a strong rookie season but he will never light up the stat sheet. The injury and lack of numbers may push him to the third round or later, but I would have no problem is someone took him in the bottom of the second if he had a great combine/physical. Possible destinations: Green Bay, Panthers, Colts, Titans, Minnesota

About Will Lomas

Grew up in a town in Tennessee named Dyersburg, and played ball there. When I realized I was too small to play college ball, I found my passion in breaking down game film, analyzing athletes, and finding the little things that decides whether a player is good, bad, or great.
