Lups 2012 NFL Mock Draft (Picks 12-22)

12. Seattle Seahawks - Chandler Jones DE, Syracuse
This is my obligatory shock pick.  Maybe it’s not that shocking since Jones is flying up boards.  He is a long limbed rusher who many have compared to Simeon Rice.  He will add the pressure off the edge that the Seahawks young defense currently lacks.

13. Arizona Cardinals - David DeCastro OG, Stanford
The Cardinals offensive line will look a little better next year with the additions of Adam Snyder and DeCastro in the middle.  Hopefully they’ll afford Kolb a little more time to sling the ball to Fitzy.

14. Dallas Cowboys - Mark Barron S, Alabama
The Cowbys offseason moves point loud and clear to this being the pick.  They got their corner in Carr and addressed the guard position with Livings.  That frees them up to take the Red Barron here and now their secondary is complete.

15. Philadelphia Eagles - Fletcher Cox DT, Mississippi St.
The Eagles need to improve against the run and love drafting defensive lineman.  Cox is rising up the boards after a good season and a great Combine.

16. New York Jets - Dontari Poe NT, Memphis
The Jets need a young nose in the midde of their defense and there is no way Rex Ryan would be able to pass on the extreme upside of Poe.  He is a boom or bust type, and the Jets have a history of taking that type of player.

17. Cincinnati Bengals (From Oakland Raiders) – Stephon Gilmore CB, South Carolina
The Bengals need a CB and guard, but with Gilmore still available they go with him as he’s the best player on the board at this point.

18. San Diego ChargersShea McClellin OLB, Boise St.
The Chargers lack a big time pass rusher, McClellin is shooting up draft boards everywhere due to impressive film that shows his hustle and playmaking ability.  He has a history of concussions and that is the only thing that could push him down the board some.

19. Chicago Bears – Quinton Coples DE, UNC
The Bears got their receiver with Marshall and now will look for some pass rushing help in round 1.  Coples is a top five talent who slides due to some inconsistent and unflattering tape during his senior season.  The Bears will hope his Tarheel alummate Julius Peppers, will help him fulfill his destiny.

20. Tennessee Titans - Dre Kirkpatrick CB, Alabama
The Titans addressed the rest of their major needs in free agency but still need a corner to fill Finnegan’s shoes.  Kirkpatrick is a long limbed corner who is battle tested in the SEC.  He should start from day one.

21. Cincinnati Bengals - Cordy Glenn G, Georgia
Things can’t go much better for the Bengals in this mock, they got Gilmore first and now land Cordy Glenn to solidify their offensive line.  A great start.

22Cleveland Browns (From Falcons) - Kendall Wright WR, Baylor
There are reports that Wright is fat and out of shape.  Again I brush those rumors off like a booger on my sleeve.  Wright is explosive and quick, and can run every route.  He’d give the Browns offense a much needed spark.
