Zach Brown NFL Draft | LB, North Carolina

Name: Zach Brown
Ideal Position: WLB
Measurements: 6-2 230 lbs.
School: UNC

-The first thing to notice about Zach Brown is his speed. It is rumored that he will run in the low 4.4s to middle 4.3s at the combine, which will really turn heads.

-His upside as a cover LB is unlimited. He can cover any RB or TE that he is matched up with and his height/speed combination could really be utilized in blitz packages where he drops to cover a WR and a DB blitzes.

-He takes false steps on play action passes that he usually can get away with in college because of his speed. If a defensive coach or a veteran can help him fix that, then he could make even more plays at or behind the LoS.

-He does a good job flipping his hips and driving on balls in the flats.

-Does not finish tackles well. He tries to make up for his strength differential by going for bigger hits, will miss on occasion.

-Prefers to slip blocks instead of using his strength or moves. If a team wants to rush him off the edge they will need to coach him up or he will get shut down after contact.

-Gets caught looking at the ball carrier and he misses the blocker coming at him which gets him pushed out of the play.

-Brown’s exceptional athleticism and potential will likely earn him a spot in the mid first to mid second round range depending on his combine numbers. Possible destinations: Tampa Bay, Philadelphia, Tennessee, Jets, Cleveland

About Will Lomas

Grew up in a town in Tennessee named Dyersburg, and played ball there. When I realized I was too small to play college ball, I found my passion in breaking down game film, analyzing athletes, and finding the little things that decides whether a player is good, bad, or great.
