Plan of Attack:   The Jets enter the 2012 Draft with four major areas of need:  WR, G, S, and OLB.  How the board shapes up will determine which order they address those positions.  They need a WR to help Sanchez out and will want one with some size.  Michael Floyd would be an ideal fit, but he may be off the board.  They could reach a bit on Stephen Hill but will likely address a different position.  The Jets have an amazing defense but lack a playmaking safety, so if Alabama’s Mark Barron is on the board they should saunter up to the podium with his name on their card as soon as they are on the clock.  They also need help on the interior of their offensive line and wouln’t hesitate to grab David DeCastro if he were available, and could also consider Georgia’s Cordy Glenn.  3-4 teams are always looking for  pass rushers and the Jets would love to add Nick Perry or Alabam’s Courtney Upshaw to their defense.

In round 2 they’ll look at these same positions but should find the best value at guard.  Kelechi Osemele from Iowa St. would be a great pick.  The Jets want to get back to “ground and pound” and Osemele is a natural road grader.  They could also consider Wisconsin’s Kevin Zeitler or Midwestern St.’s Amini Silatolu.  They really can’t miss here in the second round when it comes to picking a guard.

In round 3 the Jets will likely target a pass catcher if they have yet to land one.  Wisconsin’s Nick Toon would be a solid choice.  He is coming off a foot injury, but has good size and speed and is sure handed.  Iowa’s Marvin McNutt could also be considered as he boasts good size as well and can run like a gazelle.  The Jets could also look for a safety in round 3, if they missed out on Barron in round 1.   South Carolina’s Antonio Allen would be a top target but he could be gone, so they’d have to settle for hard hitting Markelle Martin out of Oklahoma St., or maybe George Iloka from Boise St.
