Free agency is waning down and we are approaching April at a rapid pace. It’s time to sit down and go over every teams free agent acquisitions and losses, along with their team needs. Using that information we will figure out a Plan of Attack for the 2012 Draft for each team. We’ll start with the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants and work our way down one day at a time, to the Indianapolis Colts and the first overall pick.

Plan of Attack: The 49ers addressed their biggest needs in free agency by signing Moss and Manningham at wide receiver and resigning CB Carlos Rogers. This allows them some flexibility with the 30th overall selection. They could go defensive line here and look at a potential 3-4 end in Devon Still or Jerel Worthy, but I think they should still grab a wide receiver with this choice. Moss is signed to a one year deal and he’s pushing 40, so even if he does make the team it’s a likely one and done scenario. Manningham signed a two year deal so getting a young guy to groom would be wise. There is a slim chance Kendall Wright falls to them, but it’s more likely they choose betweeen Stephen Hill, Reuben Randle, or Alshon Jeffrey.
If the 49ers land a receiver with their first pick they could look to improve their offensive line with their second round pick. There could be some very talented guards available to them at the end of round 2. Kelechi Osemele, or Kevin Zeitler would be tops on their list but if both are gone, they would be more than happy with small school standout Amini Silatolu of Midwestern St. He is a thickly built mauler with strong hands, and would fit in nicely opening holes up for Gore and Hunter. The 9ers could also look at defensive end if Jared Crick happens to fall to them, and cornerback would still be in play with Hosley, Minnifield, and Dennard being targets.
In round 3 the 49ers can add some depth at corner. They could choose between Dwight “Bill” Bentley, Josh Norman, Leonard Johnson, or Jamell Fleming. Either one would be great value late in the third round. If the 49ers go defensive line here, they would love to see Billy Winn available. He’s a versatile player who would likely play the 5 technique in their 3-4 front. The 49ers could also add a pass rushing outside linebacker at any point in the draft, as 3-4 teams are known to do. If they go that route in round 3, Bruce Irvin or Shea McLellin could be options.
