Free agency is waning down and we are approaching April at a rapid pace. It’s time to sit down and go over every teams free agent acquisitions and losses, along with their team needs. Using that information we will figure out a Plan of Attack for the 2012 Draft for each team. We’ll start with the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants and work our way down one day at a time, to the Indianapolis Colts and the first overall pick.

Plan of Attack: The Broncos have some clearly defined needs at DT, CB, and RB, and where they are picking in the draft they should find value at each of them, regardless of which order they’re addressed. Their top need is a big run stuffing defensive tackle and they should have some good options on the board with the 25th pick. Dontari Poe will likely be gone but his stock seems to be slipping as more and more teams are concerned about his awful tape, and the joy over his excellent combine begins to wane. If he’s avaialable at 25, he’d be worth the risk. Michael Brockers could be around too, and he’s kind of the flipside of Poe, as his tape is much better than his workouts. If both are gone, the Broncos will likey go with Devon Still or Jerel Worthy.
In round 2 the Broncos could go with a running back. If one of the top 3 (Wilson, Martin, or Miller) after Richardson falls to them, they would likely jump all over him. Otherwise they could take LaMichael James as a complimentary back to McGahee. If the Broncos don’t like what they see at RB, they’ll likely gravitate towards a cornerback here. Ball hawking Jayron Hosley from Va. Tech could be on the board, as could Chase Minnifield and his good combo of size and speed, or undersized but ultra physical Alfonzo Dennard from Nebraska. Either of those three would be great value and fill a big hole in the Broncos secondary.
If the Broncos do go DT, and then CB, round 3 is almost assuredly going to be a RB. They would most like to add a speedier back to compliment the more phsyical style of Willis McGahee. Temple’s Bernard Pierce or Cincy’s Isaiah Pead would fill that role. Chris Polk from Washington could also be around, and he does have good speed but is a more powerful runner than the previous two. Also, don’t count out the Broncos taking a quarterback in either the second or third rounds. Manning is 36 years old and has a bum neck. They would love to get a developmental prospect to learn from Peyton, and Brock Osweiler or Nick Foles could be targets.
