Plan of Attack: The Bills addressed their greatest need, defensive end, in a big way this offseason by brining in Super Mario Williams and Mark Anderson. This allows them to have some options with the 10th overall pick. They could bring in WR Michael Floyd. He would give the team a much needed receiver with size and physicality. They could also add tackling machine Luke Kuechly to the middle of their defense That being said, the one need this team still has, especially after losing Demetrius Bell in free agency, is left tackle. So they will likely use the 10th overall pick on Iowa’s Riley Reiff. Reiff is an experienced tackle with good feet and power. The knock on him is that his arms are too short, and some teams see him as only a right tackle. The Bills will take him, and start him as Ryan Fitzpatrick’s blindside protector and hope he can excel.
In round 2 the Bills could add a wide reciver. One guy who would be a nice fit would be Appalachian St.’s Brian Quick. Quick is a big receiver with good speed and hands. He is raw though, having played for such a small program. That’s okay with the Bills, as they have enough depth at the position that they can bring him along slowly. Quick can learn the offense, get in a few plays early in the season and then when he’s acclimated to the speed of the NFL, start working his way into more playing time. By year two he should be a starter opposite Stevie Johnson.
In round 3 the Bills could either grab a linebacker or take a quarterback to groom behind Ryan Fitzpatrick. Arizon’a St’s Brock Osweiler would be worth taking a flier on. He’s tall and athletic, but will need some time working on his mechanics and reading defenses. The same could be said about Arizona’s Nick Foles, who the Bills could also take as a project QB. If the Bills go with a linebacker here they could look at Utah St.’s Bobby Wagner, NC. St’s Terrell Manning, or FSU’s Nigel Bradham.
