Lups Round 2 (Picks 33-49)

ROUND 2

33. St. Louis Rams - Lavonte David OLB, Nebraska
The Rams are tempted by a back like David Wilson here but instead go defense and take a first round talent at the top of the second.

34. Indianapolis Colts – Coby Fleener TE, Stanford
The Colts released just about every one of their offensive weapons so why not give Luck one of his favorite targets from college?

35. Minnesota Vikings - Harrison Smith S, Notre Dame
The Vikings have the worst group of safeties in the NFL, and the Arena League.  Smith would start every game for the Purple in his rookie campaign.

36. Tampa Bay Bucs – David Wilson RB, Va. Tech
The Bucs should look for a back to pair with Blount if they end up with Claiborne in round 1.  Wilson is explosive and extremely quick, which would pair well with LeGarrate’s bruising style.

37. Cleveland Browns - Bradnon Weeden QB, Oklahoma St.
The Browns add the old man to compete with McCoy and hope one of them can pull a Dalton.

38. Jacksonville Jaguars - Alshon Jeffrey WR, South Carolina
If Blaine Gabbert is ever going to live up to his top ten status, the Jaguars will need to find him adequate weapons to toss the rock to.

39. St. Louis Rams (From Washington Redskins)  - Devon Still DT, Penn St.
The Rams have need everywhere and take Devon Still, who is the highest rated player remaining at any of them.

40. Carolina Panthers – Brandon Thompson DT, Clemson
The Panthers took the best player available in round 1, and now get to fill their biggest need in the second.  They played the board and won.

41. Buffalo Bills – Brian Quick WR, Appalachian St.
This may be a hair early but the Bills could use a no. 2 receiver to pair with Stevie Johnson and then let David Nelson work the slot.

42.  Miami Dolphins – Courtney Upshaw DE, Alabama
Upshaw falls about 20 spots as teams are unsure what system he fits best in.  The Phins don’t care they just throw him out there and tell him to get the QB, and that is one thing Upshaw can do.

43. Seattle Seahawks – Amini Silatolu G, Midwestern St.
The Sehawks solidify their offensive line with this small school mauler.

44.  Kansas City Chiefs – Kevin Zeitler G, Wisconsin
The Cheifs go the unsexy route but take the big guard out of Wisconsin to give them one of the better offensive lines in the league.

45. Dallas Cowboys - Andre Branch OLB, Clemson
The Cowboys go defense again and this time take the pass rusher who could easily have gone in round 1.

46. Philadelphia Eagles (From Arizona) – Janoris Jenkins CB, North Alabama
The Eagles are looking to deal Asante Samuel for just about anything they can get and will need to add some depth in the draft.  Jenkins has his off the field issues but his talent is top 15ish.

47. New York Jets – Ronnell Lewis OLB, Oklahoma
The Jets couldn’t pass on Poe in round 1, and they feel better about that decision seeing a fine pass rusher available to them in round 2.

48. New England Patriots (From Oakland)  – Kelechi Osemele G/T, Iowa St.
The Pats have issues in the interior portions of their offensivwe line.  Kelechi is a versatile guy who could play right tackle too.  That only endears him to Belechick even more.

49. San Diego Chargers – Mike Adams OT, Ohio St.
The Chargers were able to resign Gaither but need help on the other side.  Adams has issues with the Chronic but he could eventually blossom into their left tackle of the future.

Discussion

  1. phil marrone :

Is the mike wallace to the 9ers trade heating up?

  2. TheOUTLAW :

No way is Breeden being taken in the second by the Browns. That’s way to high for a guy that by the time he learns to play the position will only have about 4 to 5 yrs in the pros.

  3. Steve :

I don’t like the Weeden pick either. I don’t see them taking a QB until the 5th round or later this year. I think they should take another OT (they need an immediate starter at rot and depth there is always nice) or OLB/CB in that spot.
