NFL Free Agency Mock Draft

Mock Draft for Free Agents

Below is a free agency mock draft based on the same rules of the NFL Draft.  Each team will pick the best free agent for their team, regardless of cap space.  We did not include any restricted free agents, also each team gets their original pick even if traded ie. Falcons and Raiders get their picks back.

1. Indianapolis Colts – Mario Williams OLB/DE, Houston Texans
The Colts are switching to a 3-4 but like a eunich they lack parts.  Williams has proven he can play standing up and gives the Colts something to build around on defense.

2. St. Louis Rams – Vincent Jackson WR, San Diego Chargers
It’s simple, if the Rams are going to succeed, Bradford needs weapons to throw the ball to. Jackson still has a lot of miles left on his body.

3. Minnesota Vikings – Carl Nicks G, New Orleans Saints
The Vikings interior offensive line is average at best. Nicks has become one of the best guards in the league and could help keep Ponder healthy and on the field.

4. Cleveland Browns – Peyton Manning QB, Indianapolis Colts
Manning if heatlhy could still give them at least three good years and would instantly make them contenders in the AFC East.  It would also save them a first round draft pick or two instead of trading those to get RG3.

5. Tampa Bay Bucs – Brandon Carr CB, Kansas City Chiefs
The Bucs need an upgrade of talent in their secondary and Carr and Finnegan are neck and neck as the to corners availbe in free agency.  If they were able to sign Carr they could then be free to use their no. 5 overall pick on Trent Richardson.

6. Washington Redksins -  Matt Flynn QB, Green Bay Packers
Flynn will be the big ticket quarterback not named Manning this offseason. If the Skins could snap up Flynn they could continue to build the team in the upcoming draft.

7. Jacksonville Jaguars – Marques Colston WR, New Orleans Saints
If the Jaguars ever want Blaine Gabbert to be their QB of the future they have to give him some legitimate weapons.  Colston is physical with great hands and would allow the Jags to address their pass rush at pick 7.

8. Miami Dolphins – Demetrius Bell OT, Buffalo Bills
Plopping Bell opposite Jake Long would give the Fins a very powerful offensive line. Also giving them the ability to possibly reach on a quarterback in round 1 of the NFL Draft.

9. Carolina Panthers – Courtland Finnegan CB, Tennessee Titans
Finnegan could add some needed swagger to the Panthers defense and be a great compliment to Gamble.

10. Buffalo Bills – Brandon Lloyd WR, St. Louis Rams
Lloyd would add some needed fire power to the Bills game. Pairing him up with Johnson would help the Bills put up needed points on the board.

11. Kansas City Chiefs – Sione Pouha NT, New York Jets
The Chiefs are looking for a big man to plug the middle of their 3-4 front.  Pouha has been doing that for years in New York and they’d be more comfortable signing a vet, than leaving that critical position in the hands of a rookie.  It would also free up the Chiefs on Draft Day and let them look at a few different options with that no. 11 pick.

12. Seattle Seahawks – John Abraham DE, Atlanta Falcons
The Seahawks have a talented young defense but need a nother pass rusher.  Abraham is getting up there in years but is still one of the ten best pass rushers in the league.

13. Arizona Cardinals – Ben Grubbs G, Batlimore Ravens
The Cardinals have holes all over their offensive line but the interior is especially lousy.  Grubbs is a talented guard and still in his prime.  If the Cards were able to sign him and draft a tackle at pick 13, they could have their o-line shored up for years.

14. Dallas Cowboys – Carlos Rodgers CB, San Francisco 49ers
The Cowboys are hurting at the cornerback position. Rodgers had a huge year in San Fran last year and appears to have quite a bit left in his tank.

15. Philadelphia Eagles – Stephen Tulloch LB, Detroit Lions
Great inside backer and still a young buck. Would be a huge upgrade over the Eagles current linebacking situation.

16. New York Jets – Michael Bush RB, Oakland Raiders
Bush is the same type of back as current running back Shonn Greene…. but much better. Bruising back whom the Jets had hoped to get from Greene last year.

17. Oakland Raiders – Tracy Porter CB, New Orleans Saints
The Raiders have pretty much just second year  players at the corner position after making some heavy cuts and could use a veteran presence.  Porter is a very good corner with great ball skills and isntincts.

18. San Diego Chargers – Vernon Carey OT, Miami Dolphins
The Chargers could be down both Gaither and McNeil and have nothing to replace them with.  Carey can play right tackle or guard and at least offer Rivers some form of protection.

19. Chicago Bears – Mario Manningham WR, New York Giants
The Bears need weapons for Jay Cutler and Manningham is the best pass catcher left.  He’ll be the no. 1 option out of the gate in Chicago but may be better off in a number two role.

20. Tennessee Titans – Reggie Wayne WR, Colts
Titans go best offensive player available. Although Wayne is getting up there in age, he can bring some veteran leadership to a young wide receiver corps.

21. Cincinnati Bengals – Reggie Nelson S, Bengals
Yup, the Bengals bring back one of their own. Nelson still gets burned to much, but had his best year last year and is still an above average starting safety.

22. Atlanta Falcons – Jeremy Mincey DE, Jaguars
Falcons could be in need of a defensive end more than ever this year. Mincey is only 28 and had a big year last year with the Jags.

23. Detroit Lions – Chris Myers C, Houston Texans
Dominic Raiola isn’t very good and the Lions know keeping Matthew Stafford is priority no. 1.  With a weak center class this becomes the position to address in free agency.

24. Pittsburgh Steelers – Paul Soliai NT, Miami Dolphins
The Steelers could bring back Casey Hampton but he is very old.  Soliai could be their new starting nose tackle, and allow them to look at an inside linebacker or even a reciver or running back with early picks.

25. Denver Broncos – Jason Campbell QB, Oakland Raiders
The Broncos make a bit of a surprising pick here as Campbell maybe could have been had in round 2 of this free agency mock if there was one.  But instead of taking that chance, the Broncos bring in Campbell to compete with Tebow and put him in the next time he’s gone three quarters with completing only 4 passes.

26. Houston Texans – Scott Wells C, Green Bay Packers
The Texans lost their previous center Chris Myers and replace him with another good one in Scottie Wells.

27. New Orleans Saints – Curtis Lofton LB, Atlanta Falcons
The Saints address one of their biggest needs and steal away a division opponent’s player, and learn all the Falcons secrets.

28. Green Bay Packers – Luis Castillo DE, San Diego Chargers
The Packers missed Cullen Jenkins last year and roll the dice with Castillo, hoping he can be a productive member of their defense.

29. Baltimore Ravens – Jared Gaither OT, San Diego Chargers
Gaither returns home to Baltimore and the Ravens will hope he can lock down the left side for a few years until they can bring in a long term fix.

30. San Francisco 49ers – Robert Meachem WR, New Orleans Saints
The 9ers need receiver help more than anything and Meachem has filed stretching ability and still has a lot of potential.

31. New England Patriots – Pierre Garcon WR, Indinapolis Colts
The Pats need a field stretching weapon and Garcon can absolutely fly.  They’ll have to deal wtih the occasional drop but he should be worth it.

32. New York Giants – John Carlson TE, Seattle Seahawks
The Giants tight ends were wiped out by injury last season and they’ll need to add one in free agency and probably draft one too.  Carlson is a sneaky pick up after coming back from injury.  Eli would make great use of his pass catching ability.

  1. T-Hell :

Interesting FA Mock Draft, but there are a few things that will not happen.
    1) Peyton Manning will not sign with Cleveland. The Browns have shown little interest in going after the 4-timie MVP and Peyton willmore than likely choose a team that is in a position to contend for a title. The Browns are in the AFC North, not the AFC East as listed, and with Pittsburgh and Baltimore already in that conference is seems to be too big a hill for the Browns to climb within the next few years. Peyton nows he only has about 4 great seasons left and that is not enough time to see the Browns get things turned around. Miami is more likely to be his new home.

    2) Those teams not in the running for the Peyton Sweepstakes will probably focus on trying to acquire Flynn. With the Redskins already in position to land Tannehill in the draft, I think teams Like Seattle and Kansas City will be the front runners in trying to land Flynn. Although, Kansas City has enormous cap room and can probaly offer more guaranteed money up front, I think Pete Carroll will do a better job of selling the Seahawks and ultimately land Flynn.

    3) Houston will likely re-sign mario Williams. The are the pre-season favorite to make it to the Super Bowl next year and can’t afford to lose any key pieces on the defensive side of the ball. I can’t see Williams ging to the Colts knowing they are several years away from being a contender again. I look for the colts to go after a WR is Free Agency and/or a OT.
