2012 All-Combine Team

The Best of the 2012 Combine

Below is the official 2012 All-Combine Team. Just to be clear, these are just the overall players who shined at their respective positions in Indy. By no means does this mean I think they are a better overall prospect than the others who competed at the combine.

As always players came out of nowhere to put their names on the draft map. The players listed below are the official DraftSeason 2012 NFL All-Combine team.

Offense

Quarterback: Kirk Cousins QB, Michigan St.
Notes: Yes RGIII ran a sub 4.4 40 time, but the fact that he didn’t throw gets him the boot from being the best QB. Cousins had a smooth arm all day, didn’t wow with his numbers but looked the part when he got the ball.

Running Back: Doug Martin RB, Boise St.
Notes: Showed his strength on the bench with 28 reps, also managed to put up a descent 40 time for a guy his size.

Running Back: Robert Turbin RB, Utah St.
Notes: Turbin also managed 28 reps along with a 4.5, 40.

Wide Receiver: Stephen Hill WR, Georgia Tech
Notes: Might have made himself the most money at the combine. Had a blazing 40 and shined at the other workouts as well.

Wide Receiver: Devon Wylie WR, Fresno St.
Notes: Wylie did pretty much everything at the combine top notch. Not a household name but could be an interesting guy to watch in the mid rounds.

Tight End: James Hanna TE, Oklahoma
Notes: This was a close one as a handful of tight ends are deserving. I’ll give the edge to Hanna just because it was unexpected and he excelled at all drills, including a 36′ vert.

Offensive Tackle: Matt Kalil OT, USC
Notes: Not a big surprise here, Kalil is the best at his position and showed it in Indy.

Offensive Tackle: Donald Stephenson OT, Oklahoma
Notes: Was the most athletic offensive tackle on the field, his numbers back it up.

Guard: David Decastro G, Stanford
Notes: Confirmed to scouts what they already knew, he is a big boy who can move well and has the strength to boot.

Guard: Cordy Glenn G, Georgia
Notes: Managed to get his name at the top of almost all the workout lists.

Center: David Molk C, Michigan
Notes: Although Molk didn’t beat the bench record, he gave it a good run and managed to get his name in the media.

Defense

Defensive End: Nick Perry DE, USC
Notes: Great all-around workouts, including a 38.5 inch vert.

Defensive End: Melvin Ingram DE, South Carolina
Notes: Tough call, as many defensive ends had impressive numbers. Ingram gets the nod since he was up there on pretty much all categories.

Defensive Tackle: Dontaire Poe DT, Memphis
Notes: Put up 44 reps and managed to run a sub 5.0 40.

Defensive Tackle: Fletcher Cox DT, Mississippi
Notes: Running a 4.79 at 298 lbs should make guys like Nick Foles (5.14) blush.

Linebacker: Zach Brown LB, North Carolina
Notes: Showed off what he is best known for, his blazing linebacker speed.

Linebacker: Mychal Kendricks LB, Cal
Notes: Might have had the best combine out of all linebackers.

Linebacker: Luke Kuechly LB, Boston College
Notes: Landed at the top of almost all of the workout results.

Cornerback: Josh Robinson CB, Central Florida
Notes: Robinson gets the nod due to his blazing 4.33 40 time.

Cornerback: Jamell Fleming CB, Oklahoma
Notes: 23 reps along side a 4.43 40 time gets Fleming at the second corner.

Safety: Harrison Smith S, Notre Dame
Notes: Measured well and added a good 40 time.

Safety: Kelcie McCray S, Arkansas St.
Notes: Measured in at 6’2 and ran in the 4.4 range.
