Michael Brockers NFL Draft | DT LSU

Name: Michael Brockers
Ideal position: 5-tech or 3-tech
Measurements: 6-6 306 lbs
School: LSU

-Going into film all I knew about Brockers is that he is a hot name right now and that most scouts are calling him the most complete DT in this draft. So far he hasn’t disappointed.

-Constantly moving. Even when he is on the ground he fights and tries to get up or tries to grab at the QB/RB’s legs. I love that drive.

-Teams usually choose to double-team him when he lines up on the center. However, he fights those doubles and does a good job splitting them or at least fighting them for every inch.

-When he lines up as a 3 tech he really thrives. In that one on one he does a good job attacking half of the lineman and disengaging from the blocker.

-He is a good anchor and does a very good job getting his hands on the BC on interior runs. However he does stand up a lot and will need to play lower instead of relying on his strength at the next level

-Not a great pass rusher, but can get pressure from the interior of the pocket and can slip a block if he thinks he can get to the QB. Will not over-pursue like some other DTs.

-Played against elite competition in the SEC and was a cornerstone on a defense that was only second to Alabama. Speaks to his competitiveness and his talent level.

-Has elite size at 6-6 and looks like an athletic 300+. Could use some coaching to get his pad level down and to add some pass rushing moves, but overall a very intriguing prospect. Projected top 20 pick. Possible destinations: Carolina, Denver, Indianapolis (in the second), San Diego, Tennessee

About Will Lomas

Grew up in a town in Tennessee named Dyersburg, and played ball there. When I realized I was too small to play college ball, I found my passion in breaking down game film, analyzing athletes, and finding the little things that decides whether a player is good, bad, or great.
