Devon Still NFL Draft | DT Penn St.

Name: Devon Still
Ideal position: 4-3 DT 1-tech
Measurements: 6-4 310
School: Penn State

-Devon Still will make his money as a run defender who can demand double teams. He has one semi-successful pass rush move and that is the swim. However, when he uses it he stands upright and loses leverage.

-Still struggles to read blocks and is at his best when he is fighting a double team. He attacks an inside shoulder and holds his ground.

-Will overpursue on draw plays, and doesn’t have great instincts about where the ball is going.

-Has some quick burst skills for a guy his size, but probably won’t chase a BC down from behind.

-Again, he really struggles to stay low but when he does he is very effective.

-When locked up one on one he can drive defenders back forcing the RB/QB to cut their field in half.

-Needs to do a better job feeling pressure and fighting it. He allows himself to get hooked on some plays where he really could have beaten the blocker.

-Not a dynamic athlete, but effective at what he does. He will never get double digit sacks, but double digit TFLs is not out of the question even in his rookie year. He can be a huge help against teams that lack an anchor for inside runs. First round talent. Possible destinations: Carolina, Pittsburgh, Denver, Indianapolis, Minnesota.

About Will Lomas

Grew up in a town in Tennessee named Dyersburg, and played ball there. When I realized I was too small to play college ball, I found my passion in breaking down game film, analyzing athletes, and finding the little things that decides whether a player is good, bad, or great.
